Deaf-Blind Citizens for Political Action
The purpose of DBAction, or DB Citizens for Political Action, is to educate ourselves, learn to advocate for our needs, learn how the legislative process works, and to work together to find political, educational, corporate, nonprofit, and private solutions to problems we face in our everyday lives as deafblind people. The issues and challenges that we face on a daily basis are many. They include the need for better communication, environmental and information access; better educational, vocational and employment opportunities; more accessible transportation and medical-health care services; more comprehensive adaptive skills and mobility training geared toward the total needs of deafblind people; and more social, recreational and traveling opportunities, just to name a few!
DBAction is also an interactive forum where members can choose to work together on various DB-related projects. We welcome DB and non-DB members, professionals and nonprofessionals alike and we encourage everyone to participate, ask questions and contribute their knowledge and expertise on DB advocacy, policies, resources, services, projects and any relevant historical information that will increase our knowledge and galvanize us into action!
