By nature on any email listserv, strong opinions and disagreements will occur. People have different lifestyles, cultures and backgrounds. Each person has his or her own way of communication. Respect should be given to everyone who participates in this listserv.
The listserv guidelines below will help you to enjoy your online experience and get the most of these discussions.
- Please respect others’ opinions and comments, no matter how stupid they may seem.
- There are no stupid questions. By all means, please ask questions either on this list or of the moderator. It is very important for you to know this.
- Disagreeing is fine as long as this doesn’t hurt the others personally.
- Venting, sharing your frustration or being mad is fine as long you don’t personally attack the others.
- Personal attacks, cursing, bad language, and sexual harassment will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
- If someone does hurt your feelings, try to ignore that message. If you cannot, take a break from the computer and come back later. An angry response only makes the situation worse.
- Avoid quoting or repeating the others’ messages in your email. If you must quote, then quote the message below your name or copy and paste a few lines or sentences on the issues you want to discuss.
- To avoid misunderstandings, try to match your discussion to the subject line. If they do not match, then change the subject line to match your message.
- All suggestions made on the list will be considered. If a suggestion is adopted, credit will be given to the person who suggested it.
- Most importantly, enjoy your time here on the AADB Listserv!
