Get Involved! The American Association of the Deaf-Blind is the only consumer organization of, by and for deaf-blind people. If you are an individual who has both hearing and vision loss, if you have an interest in the deaf-blind community or are just curious about us, the American Association of the Deaf-Blind invites you to join our organization. For non-profit and for profit organizations, AADB also offers organization membership.

Below are some of our membership benefits:

  • Be aware of what's happening in the deaf-blind community across the nation;
  • Learn about legislation and services that impact our independence and access;
  • Network with other people who are deaf-blind or have hearing/vision loss;
  • Receive The Deaf-Blind American magazine in different reading formats;
  • Receive "AADB Today", our monthly newsletter;
  • Get discounts for AADB national conferences;
  • Be involved with other members on AADB-L, an email discussion list for members only; and
  • Join us on Facebook

AADB offers three classes of individual memberships.

  • Active Memberships - for those who are deaf-blind or with both vision /hearing loss
    Active memberships are offered to individuals who are deaf-blind or with vision/hearing loss and living in the United States. In addition to receiving membership benefits, each member of this class has voting privileges to all AADB's general elections and business meetings. After fulfilling the bylaws requirements, active members can run for any position on the Board of Directors.
  • Associate Memberships - for those who are not deaf-blind
    Associate memberships are available to any United States resident who is not deaf-blind, but has a strong interest in supporting AADB. Since AADB is an consumer-driven organization, this membership does not permit voting privileges; however, each member of this class can participate in legislative activities, advocacy work, and be involved in other related activities.
  • International Memberships - for anyone who is not a resident in the United States
    International memberships are available to any individuals from other countries. While our main focus is in the United States, AADB does some networking and information sharing to individuals and organizations in other countries to enhance the lives of deaf-blind individuals in those countries. While members of this class cannot serve on the board, they can participate in other AADB activities.

The cost is only $10 a year to join. To save the trouble of remembering to renew your yearly membership, you can become a lifetime member for $500.
