Monthly Report
Last Update:
Tuesday, May 29, 2012
The AADB committees have begun to report on a monthly basis to it's members what it's activities are. These reports are provided as a means of accountablity and information of what AADB is trying to accomplish for it's members and so that if a member may know of a resource that could be beneficial to the committee, the emember may contact the committee chair and share that resource.

Last month, December 2011, there was no report due to a misunderstanding of who is doing this membership recruiting and networking. The problem has been resolved and this committee will take on membership recruitment drives and do networking where feasible.
There is hope that a membership drive can be conducted in different states with AADB members taking part in such drives. The committee needs to work on developing a reliable membership drive plan that will be successful.
More on this committee will be available in the next report.

Last month's report it was stressed that the recruiting of new members is the responsibility of the Networking and Recruitment Committee only to recruit new members who may otherwise know nothing or very little of AADB. Debby did a membership drive in part to get people to renew their memberships and in part seeking new members.
The NRC is responsible for coming up with ideas of how to do the membership drives. We will look into doing these drives by states connected to state DB organizations.

I will work with Debby and Mike as Jill sent us all a proposal on membership recruitment. I have not seen the proposal as my computer died about the time it may have been sent and I have lost a lot of information.
Fortune 500 – I have been researching some companies and will report on what I have in the April monthly report.

I have received a membership and recruitment proposal done some years ago by two individuals with connections to AADB. I am first reviewing the proposal on my own and then will send it to committee members for their review before starting to relate goals and such in the proposal to the best way to recruit new members.
We will then put any developments into a new report.

Networking and Recruiting. What does that mean? It means the committee will be geared toward:
1) Networking with other individuals or organizations to promote AADB and help with collaboration.
2) Recruiting individuals to become members such as a membership drive and talk about how organizations can become members as well.
The Mission of the NRC:
To promote AADB in terms of networking and recruiting as an organization that can be referred upon to help people with both a hearing and vision loss.
I would like at least two more members from the West or Northwest area. So if you know anyone, please let me know. Makes it easier for us to spread out over the country.
The Action Plan:
We will need to update the membership forms and AADB brochures to make sure we all have the necessary tools and resources to help this committee achieve the goals set forth here.
Some of the goals:
1) Each member try to recruit at least 5 new members to join AADB AND one organizational member in 2 - 3 weeks, perhaps mid-October.
2) Try to attend a meeting where you can network with individuals and organizations, telling them about AADB. It can help if you also mention how AADB has helped you or what AADB has done for you.
I believe these two goals are enough to begin with on the first full month of the committee. But if other members want to share some goals, please let us know.
Thanks all, and if you have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to bring them up!

The Networking and Recruitment Committee has gotten underway and we are now reviewing the membership forms for membership at all levels for AADB.
We may be working with some others on new brochures but I need to find out and will alert the committee when I do.
We are also about to begin discussions on how we can do membership drives successfully in different sections of the USA. A report on this aspect should be forthcoming in the November report.
The committee is looking for a few more members to join. If you are interested please let me know at mark.gasaway@comcast.net.

The NRCommittee is looking into getting membership drives going and a new membership form is ready to go out.
In addition, we are going to see how AADB can become more visible among other organizations and agencies, as part of networking.
